Apresenta um novo universo musical onde o primitivo, o Maloya, se mistura ao moderno, a guitarra elétrica, onde as regras e convenções do estilo rock são chacoalhadas por percussões e riffs tropicais
“Moun noir!” é uma das maneiras de se chamar um amigo na língua creole, falada na Ilha da Reunião, onde nasceu Chris Hidalgo, fundador da banda. Moun “Oah”, com o noir estilizado, é a versão pessoal de Hidalgo para esta palavra tão simples e significativa.
A Ilha da Reunião é rica em ritmos: Maloya, Sega, Seggae, Zouk, Reggae, músicas malgaches, e ainda recebe influências francesas, do rock dos Estados Unidos e Inglaterra, da salsa da América do Sul e do samba do Brasil, país onde Hidalgo mora há 10 anos.
A Moun Oah nasceu a partir das raízes de seu fundador, que afloraram junto com a saudade da vida na Ilha, especialmente das canções ouvidas no rádio. Com a ajuda de amigos, Hidalgo criou a banda em São Paulo e conseguiu traduzir nela a riqueza de cores e inspirações de uma vida.
Você está convidado a conhecer o resultado dessa homenagem, um “Exotic Rock” composto de ritmos ternários desenvolvidos com bateria polirítmica e percussões afro-brasileiras, guitarras saturadas e baixo fazendo contrapontos e sugerindo motivos rítmicos do Roulér (percussão grave do Maloya). As letras falam de amor, de música, do contexto social da Ilha e do mundo.

"Moun noir!" This is one of the ways you call a friend in the creole spoken language In the Reunion Island, where I was born. Oah is my own stylized way to write noir.
The island is cadenced by the Maloya, Sega, Seggae, Zouk and Reggae rhythms and malgaches songs and is always open to the influences of French music, American and British rock, the salsa from South America and the samba from Brazil, the country where I’ve been living for the past ten years.
My creole origin had been asleep but resurfaced along with the longing for the life in Reunión, especially those songs I used to listen to in the radio that still resonate inside of me. Moun Oah is the expression of these roots which will always accompany me. With the help of friends, I created the band in São Paulo(Brazil) and was then able to translate all those colors and inspirations of my life.
I present our “Exotic Rock”, composed of ternary rhythms developed with the polyrhythmic drums and afro brazilian drums, saturated guitars and counterpointing bass sugesting the rhythmic motifs of the Roulér (low sounding percussion of Maloya) and lyrics that speak of love,music,the social context from Reunión and the world. Be it in creole,english or portuguese, we are MOUN OAH!
